A Delicious Delight That You’ve Loved
For Generations!

RENOVATION UPDATE
Since the end of November, I have proudly been working as a project manager for Malek’s Bakery, a place that has become very near and dear to my heart. The following is the message I just shared on our Malek’s Facebook page.
It is hard to believe that less than a week has passed since Passover ended. I can still taste the matza and quite honestly don’t want to look at another potato for a month. The joy that comes after the holiday from tasting that first bite of Chametz is almost as joyful as the celebration of our freedom.
It is with great anticipation and some temporary sadness, that I share the news of Maleks Bakery’s temporary closing while we undergo some intensive renovations.
The goal for the Passover break was to perform our own Bedikat Chametz and give the operation a deep cleaning. Upon the start of this project we discovered the immediate need for structural and cosmetic renovations that could not be postponed.
It was always the intention to renovate the space and make it more welcoming and customer friendly, our hand was forced a bit quicker than anticipated.
I would like to offer an apology to the community for this interruption of service. It was always the mission and goal to keep Maleks doors from closing and maintain a Kosher Bakery in Rochester, NY.
While we will be able to honor that commitment for many years to come, we unfortunately will not be able to provide product for the next couple of weeks. (Hopefully sooner, but being realistic)
I would just like to take this opportunity to reinforce the critical need for a Kosher Bakery in Rochester.
As I understand this could be the first Shabbat in well over 40 years that a fresh Challah has not been available from Maleks to the larger Jewish community.
Imagine if this was the permanent reality and not a temporary problem.
On this first Shabbat after Passover, and the day after Yom HaShoah, we continue to celebrate our freedoms, understanding how important it is to have this treasured community asset.
The Board and Staff of Maleks Bakery is launching a Go Fund Me page to help in our renovation costs.
Please take the time to read the page in its entirety and understand the importance of what is being done.
I thank you all for your continued support, patience, and patronage.
We have some exciting changes as well as continued traditions we are trying to honor.
